Albert Deming Griswold, III

July 27, 1947 - May 27, 2016

Albert (“Bud”) Deming Griswold, III, 68, a long-term resident of Rocky Hill, died Friday, May 27, 2016, at Hartford Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 27, 1947 in Hartford, Bud was the first child of the late Albert Deming Griswold, Jr. and Ruth (Gourlie) Griswold. Bud graduated from Rocky Hill High School in 1965 and The University of Connecticut in 1970 at which he received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Infantry. Bud subsequently served four years on active duty, primarily in the field of Military Intelligence. Following his honorable discharge from the Army as a Captain, Bud attended the Computer Processing Institute and then began his professional career at the Travelers. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions Bud’s career included multiple employers, and he retired eleven years ago after a 27-year career focusing in the technical field of IT/Government/Health Care, particularly the Medicare Program. During his retirement he enjoyed greeting friends and neighbors during his lengthy, year-round walks throughout Rocky Hill and Wethersfield, gardening, manicuring and maintaining his lawn in a park-like setting on Old Main Street, and hosting memorable family gatherings at Christmas. Bud will be greatly missed by his family members and many others in Rocky Hill who knew him as the “man about town.” Bud is survived by: his three siblings and their spouses including William G. Griswold and his wife Luanne of Middletown, Carol G. Stenman and her husband Carl of Glastonbury, and Donald W. Griswold and his wife Kathy of Wethersfield; his seven nieces and nephews and their spouses, his “rocks” whom he loved dearly including Aaron Griswold and his wife Linda of Glastonbury, Matthew Griswold and his wife Lauren of Hebron, Sarah Meehan and her husband Sean of Rocky Hill, Christina Liebel and her husband Chris of Wethersfield, Michael Stenman and his wife Shari of Weston, Kimberly Griswold of Newington, and Kevin Griswold and his wife Alyssa of Wethersfield; his four great nieces and nephews including Samantha Griswold, Hailey Meehan, Kyle Meehan, and Daniel Liebel. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rose Hill Funeral Home. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Hill Congregational Church Scholarship Fund, 805 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
