Barbara E. McCord Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Erickson McCord of Wethersfield, CT passed away on Friday July 16th 2021. She was born July 30th 1927 in Worchester, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Richard McCord and her brother Russell Erickson. She is survived by her three sons Jeff McCord and his two sons Jason and Ryan, Andy McCord and his daughter Michelle, and Kenneth McCord. She is also survived by her brother Wayne and his wife Phyllis as well as their children Michael and Dianne, and his brother Russell’s spouse Jeanette as well as his daughters Kristin, Jeannie, and his sons Richie and David. She attended Bulkley High School, received her Bachelor’s at CCSU and her Master’s at St Joseph’s. She was a teacher in the Wethersfield school system before she worked with the perceptionally handicapped. She belonged to various groups such as the Republican Women’s group, her bridge club and her gourmet club. She had a love for music and enjoyed singing choir at Central Baptist Church and the First Church of Christ. She loved attending the Hartford Symphony. Prior to returning home to her former house, she resided at Avery Heights in which she enjoyed her time there very much. In closing, she and my father personified our “Greatest Generation”, family, honor, and community. There will be a calling hour from 11am to 12pm on Monday July 26th at Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT. A service will begin afterwards at 12pm with burial immediately following.
