September 7, 1930 - August 6, 2015
Grace A. (Bidwell) Longo, 84, the beloved wife for 29 years of Pasquale Longo entered into eternal rest to join her husband on Thursday, August 6th after a brief illness. She battled strong and in the end was called home to be an angel by God’s side. Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Edith (Buck) and Raymond Bidwell. Grace blessed us and this world with 84 years of her love. Early on, her love for music drew her to the violin and the organ. She collected bells of all shapes and sizes. She was very proud of her trip to Hawaii when she was younger and always spoke of the beauty of the islands. Grace retired from Kurtz Brothers Inc. in 1995. After retirement, her hobbies and interests were plentiful. Her and her husband Pat shared their love of kite flying for many years and traveled all around the state to do so. They enjoyed many years on their boat, the "Seafarer”. They also spent many summers growing vegetables and selling their produce at local farmers markets. Both Grace and her husband were avid fans of the UCONN Women's Basketball team and enjoyed watching the Olympic Games together. For years, Grace was a long standing Member of the Bidwell Family Association where she connected with many relatives and made several road trips to visit her extended family across the country. Grace loved genealogy and local history which led her to be involved in both the Manchester and Glastonbury Historical Societies. She loved to crochet which led her to make many wonderful gifts for family and friends. The family of Grace Longo would like to extend their warmest and heartfelt thanks to all of the staff on Wing 4 of the Crestfield Rehabilitation Center. Their loving and compassionate care allowed her stay and journey home to be very comfortable. Grace leaves her nephews Bob Bidwell and his wife, Mary, Scott Bidwell and Lori Opalacz, and Brian Bidwell. She also leaves her great nephews, Matthew and Gregory, and her great nieces, Abigail, Britini and Kailei. She also leaves her stepchildren, Barry and Gail, her cousins, her friends Hazel, Lorraine, Angelo, Pete, Emily, Rosalie and many more that will miss her dearly. She also leaves her love for "that little Shana". Grace was predeceased by her brothers Roger and Tom. Calling hours will be held at the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St, Rocky Hill, CT, Wednesday August 12th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday August 12th 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St, Manchester, CT 06040.
