Gregory L. Black, 49, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday (June 15, 2017). He was born in Middletown son of the late Ervin J. Moore and Margaret Lynn Black. Gregory worked most of his life in the construction industry, first as a foreman and later as a construction safety officer. His bigger than life personality, infectious laugh, and giant bear hugs will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, the lights of his life, his beloved children, Isaiah and Jillian Black; their mother, Monica Black; his uncle, Charles Black; aunt, Jackie Black and their children, Richard Miller and Evelyn Black and their grandson Elijah Black; his son, Gregory Prchal; stepdaughters Aryn Thomas and Gabryelle Curcio. He also leaves his half siblings and their families, several aunts, uncles, cousins extended family and friends too numerous to list. As well as his church family. He was predeceased by his brother, Maurice Black and maternal grandmother, Luella Black. Family and friends are invited to call at the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, on Thursday (June 22, 2017) from 4 to 6 PM and on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM follwed by a funeral service at 11 AM in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church 346 Butternut St. Midlletown. Burial will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Gregory's name may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, 617 Main St. Middletown, CT. 06457
