Helen Pearl Mitchell

May 24, 1924 - October 17, 2016

Helen Pearl Mitchell, 92, of Bristol, CT, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 17, 2016. Born in Macon, GA, she was the daughter of the Late Napoleon Davis and Bernice Brown. Her life is a testimony of service to others, (John 13:34-35), as she truly wanted to give love to all who would accept her love. Helen was raised in Macon, GA where she attended local schools. At the age of 22 she relocated her daughter and her mother to New Britain, Ct. where she was reunited with her sister, Peggy. Helen worked in New Britain for Fafnir Bearing, and retired for Stanley Works after 41 years of dedicated service. Helen served as union steward for Stanley Works for many years, she believed in equality for all workers. Helen was a faithful member of Spottswood AME Zion Church in New Britain, she was also members of the Sportsters Club, New Britain Chapter of the NAACP, Anna Walmsley Temple. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, who is also her best friend Taffie Ann Bentley (Henry). Helen was a dedicated and loving mother. Her grandsons Damian (Rhianna), and Paul (Erika) Bentley both of Bristol, put that twinkle in her eyes, and her great-grands Dante Woods, DeQwon, DeVondre, Anayah and Ari Bentley Also of Bristol, were her pride and joys, she also leaves her devoted niece/husband, Taffie Ann Dudley (Mark) of Bristol, and great nieces Penny and Charlotte Dudley of Farmington, Ct. Helen taught us that faith, belief and trust in Jesus, is our only way to salvation, she also leaves a host of niece’s nephew’s cousins and friends. Helen is predeceased by her Parents, her sister and brother in law Peggy and Dr. Rev Harold Wrice Sr, a nephew Harold Wrice Jr, a niece Rev. Gladys Robertson, great-niece Shenia Walker, Rosemary Boston, great-nephews, Dean and Troy Wrice, Kyle Berry, and Thaddeus Singleton Helen loved her family and friends, but most of all Helen loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be held on Friday (October 28, 2016) 10 AM at the Spottswood A.M.E Zion Church. 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain. Family and friends will be meeting directly at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill has been entrusted with the arrangements.
