Joseph Bedlack

June 1, 1966 - January 25, 2022

Joseph A. Bedlack Jr, 55, of Suffield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Born June 1st, 1966 in Hartford to Joseph and Jane (Allessio) Bedlack, Joe grew up in Rocky Hill where he would later graduate from Rocky Hill HS and ultimately serve out a career at the Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2012. Joe is survived by his parents Jane and Joe, beloved wife Tracy (Simpson) of 29 years and cherished son Ryan. Joe was predeceased by son Josh and father-in-law Barry Simpson. Joe also leaves behind mother-in-law Anne Simpson (Little River, SC) brother-in-law Barry Simpson and wife Denise, and nieces Genevieve and Joselynne (Bend, OR) plus countless aunts, uncles and cousins. Joe and Tracy built a beautiful life together that began in Windsor, where they welcomed the birth of Ryan before finally settling in Suffield. Their self-proclaimed “trifecta” loved family getaways, music, Sox games - just the sheer joy and simplicity of being together – a special bond of 3. Once Joe retired, the world received a gift. More time to share his bright contagious smile, his giggly laugh, his sharp wit and humor and the beauty of which was just him. We watched as he pursued new jobs and hobbies. If you met Joe, you loved him immediately. He was a loyal friend, a genuine human being, and genuinely adored. Arguably, the most popular hall monitor in Suffield High School history – beloved beyond. His generosity was limitless and he was always, always happy - “fun Joey”. Most meaningful to Joe was time with family, Sunday and Fantasy football with Ryan (+ ESPN Red Zone/Scott Hanson) a cigar by the pool, concerts, weekend Jeep drives with Tracy to RI beaches, and hanging with his most favorite felines Rhiannon and StevieNicks. He loved Rock music that he never knew the words to but yet sang with all his heart. When you were with Joe, you just felt a little lighter, a little brighter. Etched in our memories will always be that smile that laugh, that magnetic, affable personality that was the fiber of Joe. Son, husband, father, friend, he is so tragically missed and will forever remain in our hearts. He’s impossible to forget. A Catholic mass will be held on Friday, January 28 at 11:00AM at Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by a donation in Joe’s name be made to any animal organization of choice.
