Marlea Elizabeth Faulkner

February 22, 1925 - April 17, 2019

Marlea Schilke Faulkner, 94, passed peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Apr. 17. She was the beloved wife of Bruce T. Faulkner and the daughter of John George and Lillian Schilke. She graduated from Hall High School, Class of 1943, in W. Htfd. and Dean Jr. College in Franklin, MA. She loved crosswords, cryptograms, sudoko, jigsaw puzzles, bingo, qi gong, dancing, shopping, reading, and fashion. She was always impeccably dressed and adored colorful clothing. She and Bruce enjoyed many extended winters at their condo in St. Petersburg, where they enjoyed sunsets over Ciega Bay, music at the Don CeSar Hotel, and their many friends. In addition to her parents, Marlea was predeceased by her brother J. George Schilke, Jr., her sister Joyce Ball, and her lifelong friend Sally Gross. In addition to her loving husband of 72+ years, she leaves behind her four children: Susan Crowther and her husband Dave of Farmington, Bruce Faulkner and his wife Ellen of FL., Tom Faulkner of FL., and Cathy Faulkner of Cromwell. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Kim Crowther Fahey and husband Kevin of Fairfield, Elizabeth Crowther Martin and husband Matt of CA.; Bruce Faulkner, Jr. of FL., Michael Faulkner of CA., Jennifer Faulkner of FL., Matthew Kimmel of CA., Scott Kimmel of FL.; Melissa Faulkner Cyr and husband Chris of W. Htfd., Thomas Faulkner and wife Rebecca of Newington, Donovan Faulkner of N.C.; and 9 great grandchildren: Kaylyn and Kenzie Fahey, Ethan and Alex Faulkner, Isaiah and Quincy Cyr, Ty and Bode Martin, Josie Faulkner, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Karl Dauphinais, the care teams at Hartford Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care of Marlea. Her children would like to thank Dad for his unending care and assistance of Mom and Middlewoods of Farmington staff for their compassionate caring of both our parents. There will be calling hours at 9:45 a.m. followed by a 10:30 celebration of life service on Sat., May 4 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. A private family burial will follow the service In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marlea’s name to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
