Mary (Lombardo) Baj, 88, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Edward Baj, passed away Wednesday (January 24, 2018) at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Hartford, the daughter of Sebastian and Concetta Lombardo. Mary retired from the State of Connecticut Juvenile Court. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, Leonard Marchese and his wife Penny of Vernon and Peter Marchese and his wife Brenda of East Hartford; a brother, Paul Lombardo and his wife Eleanor of South Windsor; and sister-in-law Lillian Lombardo of Boynton Beach, Florida, a stepdaughter, Constance Gansziniec and her husband Zenon of Hebron; her grandchildren, Leonard Marchese Jr. and wife Jennifer of Vernon, Sara Green and her husband Rick of Manchester, and Anthony Marchese of East Hartford; step-grandchildren Joseph and Kathryn Gansziniec. She also leaves five great grandchildren, Joseph, Julia, Sydney, Olivia, and Owen, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann-Theresa Shapiro and three brothers, Joseph, Salvatore, and John Lombardo. The Baj family would like to thank the staff of Vernon Manor for their dedicated and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held on Monday (January 29, 2018) at 12 Noon in the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 Noon just prior to the service.
