Philip W. Jarvis

November 9, 1931 - April 25, 2022

Philip Jarvis passed away on April 25, 2022 at the Glastonbury Health Center. He was 90 years old. He was pre-deceased by his wife Joy Pickering Jarvis, his parents Mary and Wilfred Jarvis and three siblings, Richard, Beverly, and David Jarvis. He leaves his sister Virginia Luczak (Frank) of Glastonbury, CT, a brother Donald Jarvis of Newington, CT and a sister-in-law Barbara Jarvis (Richard) of Florida. He also leaves a niece Marybeth Luczak of Orange, CT and two nephews John Jarvis of Florida and Richard Jarvis of Alabama. There are also several grandnieces and nephews. He grew up with his bothers and sisters in Hartford, CT and graduated from Weaver High School. Philip was an active communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Newington. He was a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Philip served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of his service to his country. He was an avid golfer with a good sense of humor. In the later stages of his working career, he sold Arnold Palmer golf equipment. This eventually led to a co-ownership, with his close friend John Piotrowski, of a new golf equipment store, Garden State Golf in Hamilton, New Jersey. He was a “people” person and enjoyed conversations on all topics. In his early retirement, before moving back to Connecticut, he lived in Berlin, MD and loved volunteering at Atlantic General Hospital. Rose Hill Funeral Chapel in Rocky Hill, CT is in charge of funeral arrangements. There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 626 Willard Ave. Newington, CT on April 29, 2022 at 11:00 am.
