Vera M. Rowell

November 4, 1924 - June 19, 2017

Vera J. (Marino) Rowell,92, youngest daughter of the late John and Jennie Marino and wife of the late David Rowell passed peacefully from this life on June 19th 2017 surrounded by her loving nieces. Born November 4, 1924 she was the youngest of seven sisters all of whom predeceased her: Lucy Sarra (Gene), Sadie DiBattista (Angelo), Carmela Pappalardo (Paul), Amelia Alberico (James), Livia Popalardo (Atillio), and Teresa Russo (Francis). She was also predeceased by many of her nieces and nephews and by her long time companion, Norman Roy, and oldest friend Bertha Martin Smith. Vera worked at Society for Savings and later in her career at the State Veteran’s Home and Hospital from which she retired. Vera was a lifelong resident of her family homestead in Rocky Hill where she built her home and remained until her death. She is survived by ten nieces and nephews and their children who showered her with their love and devotion and all of the things she loved most, Fresh cut flowers, Dunkin donuts coffee , homemade holiday cookies and pastries, and all of the Italian dishes from her childhood, ensured that she remained the “spoiled baby “of the family. Vera was an avid reader and loved to sing and dance. She never turned down an invitation to a party or a family event. She loved life and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 24th 2017 from 9:45-10:45am at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St James Church Rocky Hill ,CT.
